The Surgeon 1 Year ago
If you have enjoyed the first two Tess Gerritsen novels then you are like me and excited about starting her next novel Surgeon.

In her most masterful novel of medical suspense, New York Times bestselling author Tess Gerritsen creates a villain of unforgettable evil-and the one woman who can catch him before he kills again.

Today they will find her body.

I know how it will happen. I can picture, quite vividly, the sequence of events that will lead to the discovery. By nine o'clock, those snooty ladies at the Kendall and Lord Travel Agency will be sitting at their desks, their elegantly manicured fingers tapping at computer keyboards, booking a Mediterranean cruise for Mrs. Smith, a ski vacation at Klosters for Mr. Jones. And for Mr. and Mrs. Brown, something different this year, something exotic, perhaps Chiang Mai or Madagascar, but nothing too rugged; oh no, adventure must, above all, be comfortable. That is the motto at Kendall and Lord: "Comfortable adventures." It is a busy agency, and the phone rings often.
It will not take long for the ladies to notice that Diana is not at her
desk.

So let’s get reading and meet back here to talk about it.

I am only a few chapters in and I am usually not into violence but Tess has away of writing that's brings you close but not over the top. I'm not sure how to relate this one to science teaching but it's a good read. Anyone with some good ideas?

Hi Robin and Other Tess Fans!

I would not recommend using this book with students. While it's a great book and one that has won numerous awards, I believe that it is meant for adults. I read Tess's books this summer for pure literary enjoyment. I never intended to use any of them in the science classroom.

If I was to use one of Tess's books in the science classroom it would hands down be, The Bone Garden. With Swine Flu concerns in the headlines, this book would be timely. Its historical context could certainly drive home the absolute need for hand washing. What do high school teachers think? Are Tess's books appropriate for high school reading?

If you haven't read Tess's latest book, The Keepsake, do add it to your winter read list; it's another great book!

Hope to see you all at MSTA's annual conference and sitting front and center for Tess's keynote address. How exciting!

Hope you all are having a great school year,
Mary

That is a very nice novel. Many can relate to the jobs of our nurses and doctor's. They are important to us, they are the one helping us in times of accidents and health tragedy.
