IGES 12th Annual Art Contest for Children in Grades 2-4
Theme: ''The Ocean: From Top to Bottom!''
Entries Due: Oct. 26, 2007

What do you see when you picture the ocean? Waves crashing
onto a sandy beach? Dolphins leaping out of and into the water? A sailboat
or large ship floating in the distance?

These are probably the kinds of images that come to mind. Yet, there¹s more
to the ocean than what¹s going on at the surface. There¹s a whole world of
water, plants and animals below.

An art contest for grades 2-4 challenges students to explore the ocean from
top to bottom and then draw a picture showing what they learned. This is the
12th annual art contest held by the Institute for Global Environmental
Strategies (IGES) in Arlington, Va.
Looking for a great field trip? Engaging free programs at the Museum of Science in Boston enable grade 9 - 12 students to meet practicing scientists, discuss current topics in science and technology, and explore career possibilities!New this year, the Museum offers students and chaperones special school group pricing of just $2.00 for Exhibit Halls admission for September and October field trips. Teachers are free. Fees for add-on venues apply, but the Museum has reduced the cost of the Butterfly Garden ($1.00) and 3-D Digital Cinema ($2.00).
